£3,700 raised for Help for Heroes In 20 bucket rattling minutes Beaufort Hunt supporters dug deep to support a cause dear to all hearts -- Help for Heroes will benefit from a collection of at least £3,700, with more to follow, that will go to this young new charity formed to help service men and women wounded in Britain`s current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The collection was made at one of the Beaufort`s charity meets, in this case hosted by Mr and Mrs Leslie Milsom at their farm near Sopworth, with many thousands of pounds being raised over the years. Ian Farquhar the joint master of the Beaufort and Vice Chairman of the Master`s of Foxhounds Association who are promoting this collection nationally said “we were delighted by the support shown on Saturday. Many other hunts have already followed suit and others are still planning to do so and we hope that between now and the end of the season a considerable sum will have been collected.” Bryn Parry the cartoonist and founder of Help for Heroes commented “Help for Heroes are delighted to welcome this initiative from the Hunting Fraternity and thank everyone who is supporting us. We have had the most overwhelming response to our appeal to support our wounded servicemen and women who are injured while serving their country. There can be no politics nor prejudice in supporting a young man or woman who has been wounded and has to face life with a disability and it would be wonderful if some of these brave people will eventually be able to take up riding as part of their rehabilitation.” Charlotte Fiander, spokesperson for the CA said: “The Countryside Alliance is honoured to be supporting Help for Heroes. There are long-established links between the Armed Forces, hunting and the countryside, and everyone involved is proud to be able play their part and give something back by supporting these exceptional men and women today.” The meet was attended by 3 soldiers from 29 Regiment based at South Cerney.
Beaufort Hunt raise £750 for children with liver disease. The Beaufort Hunt held its annual Carol Service last Friday in the beautiful surroundings of Badminton Church. This popular event always attracts a packed congregation from the local farming and hunting community with the Retiring Collection going to charity. This year the Children`s Liver Disease Foundation will benefit from the collection to the tune of £750. The hunt particularly wanted to support this charity as Arianna aged 12 and Louise 26, the two daughters of local photographer Adrian Long both suffer from this life changing disease and have benefited from the support of the CLDF over a number of years.
